Islam's enchanting world of tireless geometric patterning, the tile walls of the great mosques, the spectacular weaves of prayer rugs, an expression of the Koran's mandate not to make graven images, inspired this piece, which also uses the Muslim moon as its center. Indeed the Koran's purifying mandate is confirmed by the Hindu word Maya which refers to and counsels against the mind's tendency to create an illusory reality.
