Kauai's South Shore
Southwest of Lihue, Kauai's south shore includes Koloa town and the Poipu resort
destination. Koloa town's history as a plantation marketplace has been retained
and restored as a visitor attraction. Poipu represents what one would expect a
beach resort in Hawaii to be, openly inviting water activities and sunbathing.
Just past the Poipu Bay Resort, the stark ruggedness and isolation of the Mahaulepu
coastline leaves a lasting impression on anyone spending time there.
