Parents Day
*Combined Father & Mother's Day, Kapaa Hongwanji Dharma School students celebrate the Parents Day. 
*Early morning on the Parents Day, students gathered kitchen in the temple and cooked some foods for parents.
 

           

*Before and after the service, students present Lei which they made for all the ladies.

 

 

*During the service, students had a speech contest.  They showed their gratitude with their parents and friends.  Some of small kids presented some songs to parents.  

*After taking foods, they had good time with their parents by enjoying some games.

Halloween
*Once a year, Kapaa Hongwanji Dharma School have a Halloween service & the contest.
 

Youth Retreat at Hongwanji Kokee Camp
*At the beginning of the retreat, they cleaned up the cabin and the yard.
*The Buddhist service was conducted by students.
*They had lectures, hiking, cooking, etc.
*If you are Hongwanji members, you can rent the place cheaper.  Of course, non-member also can rent the place.  See the fee schedules for more detail.

Buddha Day
*Kapaa Hongwanji Dharma School PTA & Students made an elephant and House for the infant's Buddha.
*At the beginning of the service, some students scattered the flowers and the rests of the students pulled the elephant from entrance to front.

Kapaa Hongwanji Dharma School showed a skit "The Birth of the Buddha" at the Buddha Day service, sponsored by Kauai Buddhist Council.

Kapaa Hongwanji Dharma School showed a skit "Why we observe Bodhi Day?" at the Bodhi Day service, sponsored by Kauai Buddhist Council.
  

 

Sunday Services on the Beaches
About once a month, Kapaa Hongwanji Dharma School hold a sunday service on the beach or mountain, outside of the temple.  The purpose of it is to teach children wherever and whenever they can express their appreciation to the Buddha and the Teachings, not only in the temple.  At the same time, they can learn the teachings from nature.
Also, having a fun, students bring their freinds and its parents to the services on the beaches or mountains.  This is one of ways of propagation. 

Service Projects
2 or 3 times a school year, Kapaa Hongwanji Dharma School visit hospital, care home, or elder members' home.  Before the visitation, they make their small gifts to the patients.  during the visitation, they observe a Buddhist service with patients, present their small gifts, sing some Japanese songs, have a fellowship with patinets, and etc.
