KOKEE HONGWANJI CAMP:Located in Kokee, Kauai, the camp has been constructed for use be all Hongwanji groups and other groups so that they will have a nice quiet place to hold religious meetings, informal gatherings, and other wholesome activities. We hope you enjoy your camp. We have prepared some information, please contact any Hongwanji on Kauai:

Note: From time to time there is an overlap in the usage of the camp. In the event a group is using the camp ahead of you, the key may not be available until 4:00 p.m. of the usage day. Be sure to coordinate the pickup of the key with the key coordinator.

What to take: Linen, towels, sleeping bag or blanket. Personal toilet articles plus any of the following: jacket or sweater, walking shoes, warm clothes, flashlight, matches, paper towels, dish towels, liquid detergent, coffee pot, and definitely fire wood. Also it would be a good idea to take your own pots and pans to cook since we don't know exactly what's available up there.

 

To open the camp:Be sure to coordinate the key pickup with the key coordinator BEFORE heading up to the camp. One set of keys will be placed in the hands of the person in charge. He will be responsible at all times.

 

To close the camp: Refer to check our form.

Special telephone rules: Only collect call are allowed. If you charge a call to our number, you will be charged for the call PLUS a $10.00 penalty to be deducted from your deposit.

 

While at camp

Absolutely no animals are allowed in the building.

No shoes or outside slippers to be worn in building. Wash dirty feet before entering.

Conserve electricity and diesel fuel. Turn off heater when hot water is not immediately needed.

No cutting of trees or shrubs without authority.

No open fire outside under any circumstances.

No climbing of trees.

No horsing around.

All rubbish and garbage must be disposed off.

Be sure fire place is put OUT before going out.

8:00 p.m. curfew for any loud noises, including musical instruments. No amplifiers are allowed.

Do not trespass on other people's property.

Observe all STATE PARK RULES.

 

Absolutely NO DRUGS ARE ALLOWED AUTHORITIES WILL BE NOTIFIED IF ANY DRUGS ARE FOUND ON THE PREMISES.

FEE SCHEDULE                         

Effective January 1, 1997

A. Kauai Hongwanji Members:

(Must be submitted to confirm reservation. Will be used to offset rate charge and/or against other  assessments. )

B. Off Island Hongwanji Members and Other Buddhists 

        Deposit -  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - $50.00

Flat discount of 40% from non-member rate.

To calculate, first compute total charges as if non-member.

Secondly, multiply the total non-member charged by 40%.

Thirdly, subtract this amount from the total non-member charge.

This amount is the charge  for category B.

 

C. Non-Members:

        The minimum charge for usage is $50.00

Your returnable deposit will be returned to you after inspection of the facility has been completed and the phone bill has been cleared at the time of your stay. If cancellation is done less than one month prior to usage of the camp, there will be a cancellation fee of half of the deposit. For Hongwanji members, the cancellation fee will be the entire camp fee paid.

Note: Non profit organizations may receive a special consideration. The determination of a non profit organization shall be decided by the Kokee Hongwanji Camp committee and its decision shall be final and binding on all parties. Any organization refusing to follow the above shall not be allowed usage of the camp.

RESERVATION PRIORITIES

Reservation will be accepted for Kauai Hongwanji members (for their own use) up to one (1) year prior to date of use.

Reservations will be accepted for all others up to six (6) months prior to date of use.

Call key coordinator at least five (5) days prior to camp usage to make necessary arrangements for key pick up.

Camp keys must be returned to key coordinator. Necessary arrangements must be made with him or her.

Youth groups must be chaperoned by adult(s) and an adult must pick up the keys to the camp in person. Adult must be 21 years or older.

If keys are lost by anyone using the building, we must replace the locks. The cost of this service will require the forfeiture of the deposit, and if this sum is not enough, you will be asked to pay the difference.

Reservations are not confirmed until the application form is complete and returned to the camp reservation registrar no later than the date specified on notice. Also, all necessary monies must be submitted. Failure to comply will mean AUTOMATIC CANCELLATION of your reservation.

Usage of the camp is restricted to once every three (3) months. If there is an open date you may have use of the camp, however, reservations for this special usage cannot be made prior to one (1) week before usage. In no event will anyone be allowed usage of the camp more than (4) times a calendar year or a cumulative total of fourteen (14) days a calendar year (excluding special usages).

The maximum allowable consecutive days of usage shall be seven (7) for everyone. Special considerations may be made if requested. - Effective September 1, 1996 -
