The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook, 3rd Edition
By Andrew Doughty & Harriett Friedman
"The difference between a good dive company and a bad one can easily be the
difference between a good dive and a bad dive. As anonymous certified divers
(who sometimes pretend to be novices), we are able to experiment with the
different operators. The outfits we recommend are Bubbles Below for boat
dives, and Ocean Quest for shore dives. They are well qualified,
professional and knowledgeable. Bubbles Below excels at finding great
dive spots and they are wonderful with customers. Perky Linda and laid back Ken
have been doing it here since 1984 and their love of the sport still shows
through. You won't go wrong with them. They take a maximum of 8 on their 35-foot
Radon. They tend to take fairly experienced divers and are getting so popular
that you might want to book a couple weeks in advance to be sure of space.
Discounts for multiple dive days available."

"Since the best dives on Kauai are offshore, we suggest that you book with
an operator for a two-tank dive off a dive boat for the most fulfilling
experience. Bubbles Below Scuba Charters, 6251 Hauaala Rd. Kapaa HI

Fieldings Hawaii
By Marael Johnson and Margie Nelson
"Bubbles Below Dive Charters: Ken and Linda Bail were the first to take
divers on regularly scheduled trips to Niihau. Offered once a week in the
summer, these three tank dives are for experienced divers with a spirit of
adventure (you may have to share the water with sharks). At most times of the
year, four-hour morning and afternoon dives in the waters around Kauai are
available, as is a 2.5 hour night dive. Equipment, snacks, drinks, and a dive
computer are included. Underwater still and video photography available on
advance notice for $50. Ride alongs and snorkelers allowed for $50 per person.
The number of divers per trip are usually limited to six or ten people."
Gayot's The Best of Hawaii
By Gault Millau
"Bubbles Below Scuba Charters: Daily charters 7:30 and 12:30. Two-tank boat
dives $100, two-tank night dives $100. Dive computers and photographic equipment
provided. Bubbles Below offers daily charters, both in the morning and the
afternoon. We found that the morning dive had better visibility. The two-tank
dives are done at two different locations. They also feature a dive to the
"Forbidden Island" of Niihau once a week. This three-tank dive is an
all-day affair; the boat leaves at 5 am and doesn't come back until sunset. If
you happen to be visiting when they make their sojourn to Niihau, don't miss
it."
