THE JAWS INVITATIONAL TOW SURFING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS February 1 - March 31. The first of what is scheduled to be an annual Tow Surfing competition. Competitors will be towed by Waverunners into the peaks of towering waves, between 40 to-60 feet from trough to peak, where they will be released to ride at speeds exceeding 35 knotts on footsrap-equipped boards. This event will be held at the surf break known as "Peahi," or "Jaws," on Maui's North Shore. Call:575-9264.
