MOLOKA`I SEAFEST (TBA). Kauanakakai Wharf, 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. The festival, free to the public, enhances awareness of the sea as the most important cultural, recreational, and economic resource of Hawaii. WALTER J. MACFARLANE REGATTA (TBA). Outrigger Canoe Club features 30 outrigger canoe paddling events from the Waikiki Beach to open ocean and back in front of the Moana Hotel. Surf influences results of the race, which starts at 8:30 a.m.

HICKAM AIRSHOW/OPEN HOUSE (TBA). The airshow at Hickam, features the Thunderbirds over Waikiki. The open house is (TBA).

THIRTY-SEVENTH PARKER RANCH FOURTH OF JULY RODEO (TBA). At Paniolo Park on Parker Ranch rodeo grounds in Waimea, this is the most popular rodeo of the year on the Big Island and includes many western festivities. Starts at 9 a.m. Call: 885-7311.

TURTLE INDEPENDENCE DAY (TBA). Juvenile sea turtles raised in protected sea water ponds at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel in cooperation with Sea Life Park, are released to the ocean on the Kohala Coast of the Big Island. Call: 885-6677.

FOURTH OF JULY FESTIVAL (TBA). The Big Island County Band gives a July 4th concert at the Bandstand in historic Hilo town, beginning at 2 p.m. Call: 961-8311.

EIGHTH ANNUAL CONCERT IN THE SKY (TBA). Held in Lihu`e, Kaua`i at Vidinha Stadium beginning at 3 p.m., it features fireworks, food, crafts and game booths, and live entertainment to raise money for Kauai Hospice and the Kauai Fire Department. Pony rides and petting zoo, family games, such as a watermelon eating contest, wheelbarrow race and coconut toss. A spectacular fireworks show draws more than 10,000 people each year. FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND PARADE (TBA). Parade, with floral floats, school bands, military bands and marching units, starts at 10 a.m. and goes past Kailua Beach Park on Oahu. Fireworks are at 8 p.m. Call: 262-2449.

42ND MAKAWAO RODEO (TBA). The largest rodeo of the year in Hawaii, with more than 350 cowboys from all over the world, livens up Oskie Rice Rodeo Arena, a mile above Makawao town, on Olinda Road at Kaanaolo Ranch on Maui. This Hawaiian style rodeo, with rough stock and roping events, features rodeo clowns. Before and after the rodeo, enjoy live entertainment and country western dancing. Call: 572-2076.

12TH ANNUAL WAILEA TENNIS OPEN (TBA). An international field of tennis players compete for points and prize money at Wailea Tennis Club. Call: 879-1953.

BIG ISLAND BONSAI (TBA). Big Island Bonsai fills Wailoa Center in Hilo, with workshops, and discussions among the caretakers of these stunted ornamental trees. Call: 933-4360.

FLOATING LANTERN CEREMONY A special event for the O Bon Season when the Japanese invite ancestral spirits to join in the harvest. The floating lantern ceremony honors the souls of the dead at Puunoa Point. Traditional dances performed at the Jodo Mission in Lahaina, Maui at 8 p.m. Call: 661-0939.

FOURTH ANNUAL QUILT CONFERENCE (TBA). Held at the Royal Waikoloan Resort on the Kohala Coast, Big Island, Hawai`i, with special exhibits including contest quilts, the Hoffman Challenge quilts, the Dean Jamieson collection and more. A fashion show of original prize-winning quilted clothing is scheduled for July 13.

THE TWENTIETH PRINCE LOT HULA FESTIVAL Held at Moanalua Gardens in Honolulu, this hula festival brings together dancers from all of the islands in honor of Prince Lot who became Kamehameha V. Prince Lot revived the hula after it was banned by the missionaries. His old home is on the grounds of Moanalua Gardens.

KOLOA PLANTATION DAYS (TBA). Celebration of sugar plantation life on Kauai features the culture of many immigrants to the islands, with cane cutting contests, entertainment, sports, crafts, foods and a parade in colorful Koloa Town. Call: 332-9831.

O'AHU HAWAIIAN CANOE RACING ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS (TBA). Sponsored by OHCRA, these outrigger canoe paddling races are held at Keehi Lagoon, off Lagoon Drive near Honolulu Airport at. 8:30 a.m.

BIG ISLAND SLACK KEY GUITAR FESTIVAL (TBA). At Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo on the Big Island. It begins at noon and ends at 6 p.m., with half hour performances by the masters of slack key guitar. Sponsored by the East Hawaii Cultural Council.

BIG ISLE MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE Held in the Kulani Forest on the Big Island, this cross country, off road race features a beginners and children's course. Call: 961-4452.

SINGING IN THE RAIN (TBA). Hawai`i Theatre Center is showing the original 35mm of Singing in the Rain at the historical theatre as a fundraiser for First Night Honolulu.
