Kona is a physical place of swimming, running and bicycling-home to the most famous triathlon in the world. The internationally televised Ironman, is captured on this page by the artistic talent of Kona snowbird Ed Sigler.

Sigler, who lives in New York in summer and Kailua-Kona in winter, has painted his entire life. He studied with the famed Art Students League in New York and became a sheet music artist who created classic covers and advertising art for such famous music icons as Irving Berlin, Kate Smith and Gene Autry. In more recent years, he has concentrated on human movement, painting the hula in Hawai'i, sumo wrestling, and the Ironman Triathlon. He plans to focus fulltime on Hawaiian sports and dance, as he will soon live permanently on the Big Island. He owns a home in Kailua-Kona.

The Ironman takes place on Oct. 26, taking over Ali'i Drive in Kailua-Kona with competition and celebration. Sigler's art will be displayed all Fall and Winter at Wall Art & Frames gallery in Koloko Light Industrial center, and at Kohala Kollections in Kawaihae, both along the triathlon's bike route to Hawi on the northern end of the Big Island.
