I'm happy to report that Fractint finally has a home on the Web. You can take this link to the Fractint Home Page. You'll find the program, documentation, formula and parameter files, and lots of images. This is the place to start.
One of the really neat things about the program is that it allows not only exploration of the basic Mandelbrot and Julia sets, but also the use of custom built formulas. In addition it provides a wide range of options that allow the user to create images that are quite a bit different from the "standard" sort of fractal.
As you might have guessed from looking at my images, I tend to like the strange ones. In fact, I don't understand any of the math. I just have this marvelous tool that lets me tinker with different parameters and palletes. Most of the time it's ho-hum. Occasionally, it's not. Life's like that sometimes, no?
So ... if you want to use the formulas and parameter files I've posted, you'll need the latest DOS version. Nothing wrong with just looking at the pictures, of course, but changing them is a lot more fun. For me, anyway.
Careful, tho. It's highly addictive. You've been warned ...
