Text of the words spoken at the coronation.*
Said by the Senior Cardinal Deacon, Cardinal Camillo Caccia-Dominioni, just before crowning the Pope:
Accipe thiaram, tribus coronis ornatam, et scias te esse Patrem Principum et Regum, Rectorem Orbis, in terra Vicarium Salvatoris Nostri, Cui est honor, et gloria in sæcula sculorum.
(Receive the tiara adorned with three crowns and know that thou art Father of Princes and Kings, Ruler of the World, Vicar of Our Savior on earth, to Him be the honor and glory forever and ever.)
Pius XII crowned. Crowd cheers and applauds.
Camera abruptly cuts to crowd.
Prayers said by Pius XII in the following gray box omitted from the film.
Sancti Apostoli Petrus et Paulus, de quorum potestate et auctoritate confidimus, ipsi intercedant pro nobis ad Dominum.
(May the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, of whose power and authority we are confident, intercede for us to the Lord.)
(By the prayers and merits of blessed Ever-Virgin Mary, blessed Archangel Michael, blessed John the Baptist, Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and all the saints, may the all-powerful God have mercy on you and forgive all your sins to lead you through Jesus Christ to eternal life.)
Prayers then heard, said by Pope Pius XII:
Indulgentiam absolutionem et remissionem omnium peccatorum vestrorum, spatium ver et fructuos pnitenti, cor semper pnitens, et emendationem vit, gratiam et consolationem Sancti Spiritus, et finalem perseverantiam, in bonis operibus, tribuat vobis omnipotens et misericors Dominus.
(May the almighty and merciful Lord grant you pardon, absolution, and remission of all your sins, a space for true and fruitful repentance, an ever-contrite heart, the virtue to improve your life, the grace and consolation of the Holy Spirit, and final perseverance in good works.)
Et benedictio Dei omnipotentis, Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti, descentat super vos, et maneat semper.
(And the blessing of Almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be upon you and remain with you always.)
Crowd cheers and applauds.
