I first conceived this piece while I was staying with a good friend at Arroyo Hondo, outside of Taos, New Mexico. Obviously. That high plateau greened by river streak of water, with the white-capped Sangria de Christo mountains framing the skyline, quiet, dog-barking nights, lined Native American faces, Adobe, clouds advancing from a distance, silverwork, pottery. I loved the feel of it, its rugged beauty, its stoic stance. Letting an afternoon on Gail's deck make its magic on me, I let my pen create a mandala image in my journal.
