                                NEW THOUGHT CENTER OF HAWAII
By providing a loving, accepting, non-judgmental community, we at NewThought Center of Hawaii create a sanctuary for the nourishment, development, and evolution of each person's unique spiritual path.
The circle we sit in represents our inclusiveness and our equality. We have no minister. We take turns facilitating, and we minister to each other. In addition to sharing our own spiritual insights, we invite teachers from all wisdom traditions. We invite and honor such variety and in ourselves and in the world around us. We understand that no single source has exclusivity of spiritual truth, health and joy and that there is much to be learned from many of these sources.
We gather every Sunday at 10 a.m. in Kealakekua at Pualani Terrace just south of the Kealakekua Library. You are invited to join the circle.                                             Morty Breier pres. and board of NTCH.

HUMOR

CATS IN HEAVEN

A cat dies and goes to Heaven. God meets him at the gate and says, "You have been a good cat all of these years. Anything you desire is yours, all you have to do is ask."

The cats says, "Well, I lived all my life with a poor family on a farm and had to sleep on hardwood floors."

God says, "Say no more." And instantly, a fluffy pillow appears.

A few days later, 6 mice are killed in a tragic accident and they go to Heaven. God meets them at the gate with the same offer that He made the cat. The mice said, "All our lives we've had to run. Cats, dogs and even women with brooms have chased us. If we could only have a pair of roller skates, we wouldn't have to run anymore."

God says, "Say no more." And instantly, each mouse is fitted with a beautiful pair of tiny roller skates.

About a week later, God decides to check and see how the cat is doing. The cat is sound asleep on his new pillow. God gently wakes him and asks, "How are you doing? Are you happy here?"

The cat yawns and stretches and says, "Oh, I've never been happier in my life. And those Meals on Wheels are great .                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Via Beliefnet

SOME THINGS IN LIFE ARE CERTAIN
The madam opened the brothel door to see a rather dignified,
well-dressed good looking man in his late 40s or early 50s.
"Can I help you?" she asked.   "I want to see Natalie" the man replied.
"Sir,  Natalie is one of our most expensive ladies.   Perhaps you would prefer
someone else," said the madam.
"No.   I must see Natalie" was the man's reply.
Just then, Natalie appeared and announced to the man that she charged
$1,000 a visit.
Without hesitation, the man pulled out ten one hundred dollar bills and
gave them to Natalie and they went upstairs.   After an hour, the man
calmly left.
The next night, the same man appeared again, demanding  to see Natalie.
Natalie explained that no one had ever come back two nights in a row --
too expensive -- and there were no discounts.   The price was still
$1,000.   Again he man pulled out the money, gave it to Natalie and
they went upstairs.   After an hour, he left.
The following night the man was there again. Everyone was astounded
that he had come for the third consecutive night, but he paid Natalie and they went upstairs.
After their session, Natalie questioned the man.   "No one has ever
used me three nights in a row.   Where are you from?" she asked.
The man replied, "South Carolina.""Really" she said.
"I have family in South Carolina."
"I know," the man said.   "Your father died and I am your sister's
attorney.   She asked me to give you your $3,000 inheritance."
The moral of the story is:  Some things in life are certain
1.  Taxes
2.  Death
3.  Being screwed by a lawyer

- "In the post Enron business world, corporations are training employees how to be ethical just as they teach them about making sales or balancing the books.                                                                                                        WHT Oct. 31 AP story

- "If you have a reputation for ethical behavior, that is a competitive advantage in today's marketplace." Jim Berg, International Paper's director of ethics and business practices
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    - "Given the previously intractable nature of [these patients'] pain, the improvements provided by cannabis-based medicines are all the more remarkable,"  Dr. William Notcutt of James Paget Hospital, who oversaw the trial of the 34 patients who participated in the study presented to the annual meeting of the American Academy of Pain Management. More than 80 percent experienced significant benefits, including pain relief and sleep enhancement, and elected to continue to a long-term trial.  Each of the volunteers had been previously unresponsive to standard analgesics. Concluded that compounds in Cannabis (marijuana) can drastically reduce the chronic pain experienced by patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and spinal cord injury.

- "In 1914, the federal government changed the social and medical problems of
drugs into a massive crime problem by establishing criminal prohibition of
certain drugs.  Eighty-eight years later, the government's continuing claims
of progress in controlling drugs cannot be validated.  The magnitude of this
massive interference with liberty cannot be justified by the mere claim that
the drug problem would be worse if the government had not attempted prohibition."
Joseph D.  McNamara, from an oped titled "Costly, Counterproductive, Crazy" in the Orange County Register.

- "We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through
the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may
have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything
can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to
choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way.
