NEW THOUGHT WEEKLY
By providing a loving, accepting, non-judgmental community we at New Thought Center of Hawaii create a sanctuary for the nourishment, development and evolution of each individual's unique spiritual path. This not only furthers us individually, but by bringing our compassion, insight, and wisdom forward, benefits those around us, our fellow travelers, our spiritual community, our family, friends, neighbors, our dear island community and our world.
The circle we sit in represents both our inclusiveness and our equality. We have no minister. We take turns facilitating and we minister to each other. In addition to sharing our own spiritual insights, we invite teachers from all wisdom traditions around our wonderfully diverse planet. We invite and honor such variety in ourselves and in the world around us. We've come to understand that no single source has exclusivity as regards spiritual truth, health, and joy, but that there is much to learn from many of these sources.
We gather here each Sunday morning (at the New Thought Sunday Center at Pualani Terrace in Kealakekua, just south of the Kealakekua Public Library) to help us affirm these views and strengthen our capacity to love and be loved.
You are invited to join this circle.

HUMOR

I'M FINE
Clyde, a farmer in Alabama, decided his injuries from the accident were serious enough to take the trucking company (responsible for the accident)  to court.
In court the trucking company's fancy lawyer was questioning Clyde.
"Didn't you say at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine?'" asked the lawyer.
Clyde responded, "Well, I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded
my favorite mule Bessie into the..."
"I didn't ask for any details," the lawyer interrupted, "just answer
the question. Did you or did you not say 'I'm fine' at the scene of the accident?"
Clyde said, "Well, yes, but I had just got Bessie into the trailer and
 was  driving down the road..."
The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Judge, I am trying to establish
the  fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman
on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is
trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer
the question."
By this time the Judge was fairly interested in Clyde's answer and said
to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favorite mule, Bessie."
Clyde thanked the Judge and proceeded, "Well, like I was saying, I had
just loaded Bessie, my favorite mule, into the trailer and was driving
her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop
sign and smacked my truck right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch
and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting real bad and didn't want
to move. However, I could hear old Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew
she was in terrible shape just by her groans. About that time a Highway
Patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and
groaning so he went over to her.  After he looked at her he took out
his gun and shot her between the eyes. Then the Patrolman came across the
road with his gun in his hand and looked at me and said,
'And, how are you feeling?'"                    via Roger&Lydia Weiss

WHY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for your actions when maybe someone else can get the blame.
Here are some excuses why its not your fault:
- I got severe tire damage on the road less traveled.
- I learned the wrong seven habits.
- The chicken soup for my soul was contaminated with E.coli.
- Someone slipped me some bad affirmations.
- I'm one of those good people bad things happen to.

- "What we have learned in the last few months is that no one is looking out for us, guiding our souls, or ensuring our future prosperity. And when the powerful begin to act irresponsibly, it's the responsibility of the rest of us to take their power away from them.

Kennedy via Larry Morningstar

- "Great necessities call out great virtues."          Abigail Adams

MISCELLANEOUS

AT THE END, CULTURE MATTERS

- Chinese Americans may consider discussing death to be bad luck.
- Filipino Americans may seek a non-medical reason for the illness.
- Japanese Americans may hesitate to complain about pain.
- Korean Americans may resist telling the patient when the condition is terminal.
- Native Hawaiians may distrust physicians.
- Samoan Americans families may assign a designated caregiver.
- Vietnamese Americans elders may focus on preparing for death.
From the UH magazine "Malama" in an article titled "Facing the End of Life," July-December issue.

"Death can be a positive experience if personnel are skilled and compassionate."
