SUNDAY AUGUST 25, 2002 PROGRAM
Drew Womack, "High Country"

to lift the spirit." His message is to enjoy life, fill it with love,
and get rid of fear. His music says "Life can be an incredible
adventure, not a trivial pursuit of material wealth. See quotes from Drew's
music in the "Words of Wisdom" below.

NEW THOUGHT WEEKLY
New
Thought Center of Hawaii is a multi-faith community of the spirit. By
providing a loving, accepting, non-judgmental community we create a
sanctuary for the nourishment, development and evolution of each
individual's unique spiritual path.
The circle we sit in represents both our inclusiveness and
our equality. We have no minister. We take turns
facilitating and we minister to each other. In addition to
sharing our own spiritual insights, we invite teachers from
all wisdom traditions around our wonderfully diverse
planet. We invite and honor such variety in ourselves and
in the world around us. We've come to understand that no
single source has exclusivity as regards spiritual truth,
health, and joy, but that there is much to learn from many
of these sources.
We gather here each Sunday morning (at the New Thought
Sunday Center at Pualani Terrace in Kealakekua, (just
south of the Kealakekua Public Library). You are
invited to join the circle.

HUMOR
THAT'S ASKING FOR ALOT
On their way
to get married, a young couple are involved in a fatal car accident. The
couple find themselves sitting outside the Pearly Gates waiting for St. Peter
to process them into Heaven. While waiting, they begin to wonder:
Could they possibly get married in Heaven? When Saint Peter
shows up, they asked him. Saint Peter says, "I don't know. This is the
first time anyone has asked. Let me go find out," and he leaves. The
couple sat and waited for an answer. . . for a couple of months.
While they waited, they discussed that IF they were allowed
to get married in Heaven, SHOULD they get married, what with the eternal
aspect of it all.
"What if it doesn't work?" they wondered,
"Are we stuck together FOREVER?"
After yet another month, St. Peter finally returns looking
somewhat bedraggled. "Yes," he informs the couple,...... "You
CAN get married in Heaven."
"Great!" said the couple, "But we were just
wondering,......what if things don't work out? Could we also get a divorce in
Heaven?"
St. Peter, red-faced with anger, slams his clipboard onto
the ground. "What's wrong?" asked the frightened couple.
"OH, COME ON!!" Saint Peter shouts, "It took
me three months to find a priest up here! Do you have ANY idea how long it'll
take me to find a lawyer?

To make really cool pictures, first
use the largest size dot, and only on or two strokes. Then go to the
medium size and make a couple more. Then the smallest is really fun.
(all in one picture of course).
I have learned how to make a gridwork of these, like a
patchwork quilt, and
use them as backgrounds or screen savers on my computer, but that is more
complicated. It does make beautiful designs, however.

"I considered the matter of our feeding. Human children dream of a land
where the mountains are ice cream and the trees are gingerbread and the stones
are bonbons. For a gorilla, Africa is just such a land. Wherever one turns,
there is something wonderful to eat. One never thinks, “Oh, I'd better look
for some food.” Food is everywhere, and one picks it up almost
absentmindedly, as one takes a breath of air. In fact, one does not think of
feeding as a distinct activity at all. Rather, its like a delicious music that
plays in the background of all activities throughout the day. In fact, feeding
only became feeding for me at the zoo, where twice daily great masses of
tasteless fodder were pitched into our cages." A

SPIRITUAL MESSAGE:
PRIORITIES
Once upon a time there was a rich King who had
four wives.
He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with
rich robes and
treated her to the finest of delicacies. He gave her nothing but the best.
He also loved the 3rd wife very much and was always showing
her off to
neighboring kingdoms. However, he feared that one day she would leave
him for another.
He also loved his 2nd wife. She was his confidant and
was always kind,
considerate and patient with him. Whenever the King faced a problem, he
could confide in her, and she would help him get through difficult times.
The King's 1st wife was a very loyal partner and had
made great
contributions in maintaining his wealth and kingdom. However, he did not
love the first wife. Although she loved him deeply, he hardly took
notice of her!
One day, the King fell ill and he knew his time was
short. He thought of
his luxurious life and wondered, "I now have four wives with me, but
when I die, I'll be all alone."
Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I have loved you
the most, endowed you
with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm
dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!",
replied the
4th wife, and she walked away without another word. Her answer cut like
a sharp knife right into his heart.
The sad King then asked the 3rd wife, "I have
loved you all my life. .
Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"No!",
replied the 3rd wife. "Life is too good! When you die, I'm going to
remarry!" His heart sank and turned cold.
He then asked the 2nd wife, "I have always
turned to you for help and
you've always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me
company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!", replied
the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave."
Her answer came like a bolt of lightning, and the King was devastated.
Then a voice called out: "I'll leave with you
and follow you no matter
where you go." The King looked up, and there was his first wife She was
so skinny as she suffered from malnutrition and neglect. Greatly
grieved, the King said, "I should have taken much better care of you
when I had the chance!"
In truth, we all have 4 wives in our lives:
Our 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish
in making it look good, it will leave us when we die.
Our 3rd wife is our possessions, status and wealth. When we
die, it will all go to others.
Our 2nd wife is our family and friends. No
matter how much they have
been there for us, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.
And our 1st wife is our Soul, often neglected in pursuit of
wealth,
power and pleasures of the world. However, our Soul is the only thing
that will follow us wherever we go. So cultivate, strengthen and cherish
it now, for it is the only part of us that will follow us beyond the
grave and continue with us throughout Eternity.
