Dear Darrlyn Bunda,
After consultation with the community I submit the following projects in priority
order for inclusion in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
- Improve Makakilo Interchange per Ewa Master Plan.
The interchange should be 4 way and include direct access to the Kapolei Villages.
There should also be a westbound ramp on H-1 from Makakilo Drive.
- Construct Kapolei Interchange on Interstate H-1.
- Widen Fort Barrette Road to 4 lanes from H-1 to Kapolei Parkway to the front gate
of
NAS Barber's Point.
4. Construct Kapolei Parkway from Ko Olina to Ewa North-South Road to connect
w/Renton to Fort Weaver.
- Widen, straighten and improve Farrington Highway from Ko Olina to Fort Weaver
(Phase I Ft Barrette to Ft Weaver, Balance Phase II).
- North-South Road with interchange at Palehua with extension of Makakilo Drive to
Palehua Interchange.
- Improve Kunia Interchange.
- Widen Kunia Road to 4 lanes from H-1 Royal Kunia.
The following projects are submitted to be considered for inclusion in the Overall
Work Program Projects (OWP).
- Investigate Honokai Hale problems; roadway fronting Honokai Hale operates like a
freeway.
- Kapolei Regional Circulation Study (existing approved and planned). This circulations
study is needed to fully describe all access into and out of the Kapolei Region and
its internal roadways. We want to know how big the ramps are going to be not just
whether or not there will be a ramp.
- Study paratransit versus big bus as the primary circulation transit mode in the Kapolei
Regional Area.
