Report to the Waipahu Neighborhood Board No. 22

Village Park Water and Soil Update

Attached are various letters to and from the EPA and the Board of Water Supply. I met with the Board of Water Supply and they are being very active in water testing and responsive to community concerns. The EPA appears to have decided there is nothing wrong. I will continue working with them and Senator Daniel Akaka to make sure we find out what the truth is. Next week I will be meeting with Gary Gill from the Department of Health regarding the plan for soil testing using the money appropriate by House Bill 1138.

H-1 Call Boxes

Several people questioned why call boxes are scarce on H-1, but plentiful on H-3. It appears we will be getting more call boxes on H-1 in the next few years. See attached letter.

Super Prix

Mark your calendars - November 8 to 14 is Hawaii Super Prix week at Barbers Point Airport. Races will be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 11, 12, and 13. This event will be seen by millions of people throughout the world. We don't get to see world class car racing live in Hawaii very often. Call 526-4400 for tickets.

Ewa Walk August 28, 1999:

Join us August 28th at 3:30 p.m. for the Third Annual Historic Ewa Evening Walk. Ewa is probably the most unique community on the island - and is made for walking. For $10 a family you get the historic walking map and dinner. The proceeds go to senior citizens groups in Ewa. A brochure is attached, or call Ewa Elementary School at 681-8202.
