DEVELOP YOUR CREATIVE POTENTIAL
To experience your creative potential
is to be touched by Spirit and the Grace of God.
Spiritual awareness
Creative power is God's paintbrush, the dynamic energy of spirit. It embraces the world of imagination and becomes an active way for Spirit to speak through you. Great artists know this connection. This deep yearning for connection urges exploration into the greatness that dwells within the soul. Moving within this focus of spirit, recognize that your capacity is much larger than your mental perception of whom you think you are. Latent resources begin waking up. This depth of Being becomes available as you open to the Presence. Creative expression becomes the ticket. All you need to do is show up for the process.
The matrix of creativity starts as a vibration. First there was the word, and the word was God. Divine sound is the impulse that opens the door. Experiencing this vibration, the Matrix imprints the psyche, its rhythms carrying you into the creative process. Whether painting, writing, or cooking a good meal, it all starts as an impulse from the divine, interpreted by the personality each in its own way.
The evolutionary process is quickening, urging a return to the heart where you will find your deeper purpose and unique gifts. When the heart soars, your spirit finds its true home. When you ask consciously to participate with this higher frequency, the new teaching is given and the language of the heart is brought to the next dimension, expanding and empowering the matrix. Used wisely, this empowerment opens you to the wellspring of the divine.
Think of creativity as a Circle of Light.
In this circle, you will see areas that are alive and full of light. These are the places that you have mastered and are fully receiving the divine spirit. Other areas may seem dull and undeveloped. Here lies your hidden potential. Many of the frustrations and judgements experienced in life comes from those dull areas which have not yet been developed.
Now, let us explore the nature of the creative process.
Before the Beginning
This is the empty canvas, with the arousal of the desire to express. Patterns are dreaming themselves into place, receiving the impulse of heaven, forming the matrix. This is the mother pattern. This is when your purpose is felt strongly, yet you may not have a clue as to its form of expression. Use of meditation helps ground these impulses and dissipate the discomfort of the birth process.
The Archetype
The potency of the ideal is forming in the mind. As it is conceived, it births with tremendous fire of spirit. The archetype awakens. Infinite possibilities are now available. This is your spiritual battery. It holds the vision and the dynamics of your future aspiration. By asking for assistance at this point, the full potential of the archetype becomes available.
Be sure to honor this manifestation of Divine Presence and give thanks for all that is received. Without sincere gratitude, you run the risk of becoming brittle and heavy with the false burden of responsibility. Remember that this is co-creation. Stay aligned. This misconception of having to do it all alone often causes the anxiety that can stop you in your tracks. The process is much grander than what the limited mind can comprehend in the beginning. Relax, you are not alone.
The River
The archetype feeds tremendous energy and ideas into your creative vortex. You begin to experience synchronization, and the river starts to flow. This strong central current expresses the archetypal matrix. Discipline is required to remain in alignment and to swim creatively in the depths of the subconscious. Courage and focus are required to bring your vision into reality. This stage separates the master from the dilettante.
A host of emotions, dark and light, carries you into deeper parts of yourself. Your ego blocks, like boulders in the river, make the voyage richer and more challenging. Here, you see where you are separated from the source and need to pay attention in order to listen to your intuition for direction. Focus on keeping your heart and mind in balance. This turbulent time is when your addictions and old patterns come to the surface and act up. This crucial part of the work establishes the flow, allowing you to master your ego and harness the powers of your darkness as well as your light.
Diving deeply into the river of consciousness, go beyond the limitations of your previous knowledge and experience more of the depth of life itself. Give yourself permission to make mistakes. Tell the truth and move on. Learn to flow beyond what you think is possible and let your heart be your guide. This process makes the river strong, and the flow clean.
The Birth of Spirit Fire
Once commitment is set; the project begins to pulse with the magnetism of vision actualizing. The passion fire is burning. The project takes on a life of its own. Become actively receptive and you will have all that is necessary for your essence to transform vision into reality. The matrix is alive with the dynamic rhythm of spirit that directs you to completion. Release the idea that it must manifest in a certain form or style. Ask for assistance regularly. Have faith that the process works.
Dedicate a specific time to your creation. Make the commitment and keep your word. This is your appointment with the archetype. It does not matter how you feel. Whether you want to or not, show up and see what happens. Even if all that is done is reorganizing or cleaning the space, this action stabilizes the flow and allows you to receive the transmission of the archetype. The birth brings this transmission into form. This birth process can be intense. Here are some common obstacles to be aware of; some cautions.
Premature birth
Conception is not birth. Frustration and disappointment can short-circuit the energy if you confuse the two, expecting completion before its time. Be sure to allow enough gestation time for the creation to become a fully formed healthy baby.
Excessive Criticism
Destructive thoughts can be devastating to creativity and cause the abortion of the process. Keep response in perspective.
Takeovers
Do not lose your personal statement by allowing other people's ideas or suggestions to take over the process. Sleep on suggestions and honor your own self expression.
Cold feet
Excessive fear can stop you from completing the process. All birth has an element of risk. Fears are natural reactions but do not be overwhelmed by them. Be willing to move through the feelings rather than run away.
Running out of gas
Do not wear yourself out with excessive thinking or sharing. This dissipates the energy. Know your attention span and pace yourself.
After Completion - The Power of Receiving
Let go and release the work. This can be a difficult stage, especially if you are fearful of your own emptiness. However, only by releasing your work fully can it be given to others or give back to you. If you are sensitive to criticism, allow that to be known, while at the same time remaining open to feedback. By acknowledging the strength and power as well as the weakness of the work, you finish the process. Completion empties the goblet and prepares it to be filled with your next creation.
Never underestimate the potency of the work. Receiving comes on many levels, spiritual and practical. You discover the deeper meaning of the work and its value. Keep empowering it with the highest vision. Trust that you will be taken care of and do not be attached to any specific outcome.
Understand that creative criticism has its place. Without it, you can become lost in process. Ask for the critic to be non-judgmental, using the neutral awareness of love to improve your work, thus giving strength where there is weakness. Truth becomes a tool for refining and polishing your talent. Correctly assimilated, this final stage will be of tremendous value, giving new perspective to your work.
Judgement without compassion can result in feelings of dis-empowerment and cause resistance to hear the useful points of the feed back. Many rich souls often have difficult times when their creation is met with too much destructive criticism, whether self-inflicted or made by an underdeveloped critic. Look for the motive of the feedback and discover what it is trying to accomplish. Find the truth, integrate what works and move on.
Importance of Gratitude
Gratitude is an attitude that should be cultivated throughout the process. In many instances, it comes spontaneously with the realization of the magnitude of the gift. Being grateful that you are the conduit of this creative expression going out into the world is also an integral part of completion. As you are grateful for all you receive, the whole creative process comes into perspective and the vital importance of each phase becomes evident.
When you stop separating your life from the creative process and find the freedom to express, life takes on rich new meanings. Draw from the well. Accept yourself as a creative being and thrust off the straight jacket society and old conditioning has placed on you. Accept the sensitivity of the artist waking up inside and realize that you are always creating, even in disaster. Listen with your heart and open your eyes to see. Respond with compassion to your fears, and accept that you may not always fully comprehend each experience. Know that you are never alone, even when experiencing your greatest separation.
Behold the depth of life in a single seed, and know the potential, awaiting the right circumstances, for its moment of awakening. This moment of truth comes when the seed receives the waters of Life. Light gives it the strength to grow. The tree of life gives birth. It humbly offers its fruit, giving nourishment and joy for all to receive.
