GUIDELINES FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCURSIONS

The goal of the Onizuka Space Center is to perpetuate Ellison's inspirational legacy of education for youngsters. Teachers are encouraged to arrange for their students to visit the Onizuka Space Center to experience a unique learning opportunity.

Our numerous exhibits honor Ellison Onizuka and the other Challenger astronauts while encouraging students to learn about the topic of space. Dozens of hands-on, interactive displays are available for students to manipulate and learn about such topics as gravity, laws of motion, rockets and satellites, solar energy, manned space flights, astronomy and much more.

Our hands-on approach to learning allows visiting students to use the theme of aerospace as a curricular emphasis to reinforce the learning of basic subjects such as science, math, language arts, and social studies. A number of space videos are available to further explain science concepts. Additionally, a small library of space-related books is available for student research.
